CES 2016: The Gadget Guru Interviews Shan Phillips – CEO, Yuneec USA

I had the pleasure of speaking with Shan Phillips, the CEO of Yuneec USA during the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. I have to say, that it is highly likely he’s the most in-demand CEO at CES. Yeah, that happens when you not only introduce one of the most talked about products at the show, but to have it unveiled by industry giant, Intel.

Having attended CES since the late 1970’s, I can say with certainty that’s it’s unusual for a manufacturer to steal the show with an individual product. But that’s what happened at this CES and the attention was centered around Yuneec and its new Typhoon H hexacopter.

While word of this new copter leaked a few days prior to the show, only a few details were revealed in Yuneec’s teaser video. The big news came during a keynote speech, when Intel demonstrated it’s new RealSense Collision Avoidance technology and announced that the first copter to use this technology would be the Typhoon H.

The other big news was what didn’t happen. We didn’t see GoPro’s rumored Karma copter and for the first time in the past three years, DJI was not the most talked about name in copters at the show.

Here’s the interview with Shan Phillips:
