Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve seen the numerous media reports regarding the issues surrounding those popular “hoverboard” products. Numerous retailers have pulled them off the shelves over concerns of unstable batteries that could catch fire. We’ve also learned that major airlines have banned hoverboards from being carried onboard or shipped as luggage.
However, it came as news to me that at least one major airport has banned unmanned aerial vehicles, aka drones from airplanes.
Here’s a report from Willard Shepard of NBC owned and operated station WTVJ, NBC6 from the Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood airport that aired on Friday, December 18, 2015. Please note that I’ve worked with Shepard in the past and not only is he is a TV anchor/reporter, he’s a seasoned aviator and spent much of his career in the military as a combat jet pilot.
